We are often asked what actually happens after a client approves a render. Here is one Tuesday in the workshop.
00 — Daniel reviews the queue: three castings to clean, one ring to size, a new CAD to export. Marco has already sent the render files to the 3D printer overnight.
30 — Castings come out of the kiln. We quench, cut the sprue, and tumble for 40 minutes. The pieces are dull gray; this is expected.
00 — Ivy sits down at the setting microscope. She sets the pavé on a halo ring first (the fiddliest), then the center stone. She checks every seat under 10x.
30 — Grace takes over for finishing. Brushed exterior, polished interior, rhodium plate on the white-gold piece. We weigh each piece before and after to confirm metal loss is within tolerance.
00 — QC. Daniel loupes every stone, checks the ring size on a mandrel, and photographs the finished piece against a ruler. If it passes, it goes into the shipping box.
